I mean, RuPaul at his core is a businessman. He knows how to make deals that benefit him and that's why he's on the level he's at while some of his contemporaries are still working the club circuit. He's also featured 2 full detransitioners (Darienne Lake, A'Keria C Davenport [MtFtM]), 1 partial detransitioner (Eureka O'Hara [MtFtNB], and one desister (Trinity 'the Tuck' Taylor)*. Ru is definitely diversifying his portfolio so, depending on the cultural outcome, he'll always come out looking like he's standing behind the winner.

*On the subject of Trinity, he was silenced by the mob of public opinion a couple years ago for speaking out about how the pageant scene pushes the men in it to transition (at least partially) despite not having gender dysphoria. Fellow winner James Ross IV (Tyra Sanchez), who came from the pageant scene, quit drag last year because he wants to make his body appear more muscular but was groomed into thinking he can't do that AND do drag.
