Will the world ever be sane? This is the comment on "Elliot" Page coming out

Also, kinda unrelated, there's this really cool youtuber "Negative Legend" and I adored him for being very non-comforming. Just your every day "feminine" guy who fucking owns it and does it flawlessly. Or so I thought. Newest video and what do I see? A fucking "non-binary" sticker. I've lost hope.

I'm very sad and tired of the bullshit. LET MEN BE MEN AND WOMEN BE WOMEN.

Like for real... We're getting backwards all over again...

I feel sad for guys like him. I was a kinda feminine teenager, and guys like us often get bullied or isolated by our straight masculine peers. Many of us look into gay communities for comfort. Except gay spaces are now all LGBTQ+ spaces. It never happened to me, but I imagine it can be easy to identify as a label like non-binary when you see guys that look like you using this label, while at the same time you're distancing yourself from the male label that is associated with the people that bullied you.

In the end of the day, both traditional homophobia and woke homophobia work together.

Every so often I wonder if I'm exaggerating how much LGBTQ+ spaces are all just trans. Like, the other day. But, I took myself over to /r/LGBT, and god, it really is. No gays at all, just "look at my hormonally altered body" and "Look at my trans flags".

For what it's worth, I've seen a lot of people get confused between "nonbinary" and "gender nonconforming", as well as people who casually call themselves "nonbinary" for clout, acceptance, or because they were bullied into it.

I used to refer to myself as "genderqueer" - what "nonbinary" used to be called when it first started being a thing - because I was told that it meant a gender nonconforming person. Fortunately someone corrected me pretty quick, but still. "Nonbinary" is a ridiculous concept because it's impossible for humans to be neither sex, so I think many of us first thought it had to do with gender roles at first.

Anyway, my point is, just because someone calls themself nonbinary doesn't necessarily mean they're a Kool-Aid drinking moron - they may just be mistaken or it may be something they were heavily pressured into. In my experience especially, "nonbinary" people don't seem to keep that label for very long.
