Still, I feel like if I had a role model, growing up as a lesbian wouldn't have been so lonely and frightening. I could rarely ever relate to other lesbians, and I was worried that I would have an unhappy life.

I feel that. I was deep in denial about my sexuality most of my childhood, so I got to miss out on some of that, but I have a friend now who is a gay woman and who is sort of a role model for me, it's really nice. :)
