This:

is the of the problem. Your sexuality IS NOT "a nice gesture" and that does NOT say anything about how "nice" you are. This is how shaming begins and how manipulative tactics prevail.

It has to do with the way the word "love" is used, I think. There are (at least) two meanings and people keep mixing them up:

  1. Romantic/sexual love
  2. Non-romantic/non-sexual caring

It should never be a point of shame to say "I don't love X group romantically/sexually". TQ activists misinterpret "I don't love men" to mean "I am a heartless person and do not care whatsoever for men". This is disingenuous.

(I know some people genuinely don't care about certain groups of people when they say that, but that's another conversation.)
