No one is going to be mad at you or call you transphobic if a trans woman asks you out and you politely decline. Sexual preferences are fine but advertising your exclusion of an entire group of people from your preferences even though they are your preferred gender is the problematic part. Nobody needs you to publicly announce why certain people are unattractive to you

  1. It's not a sexual preference. It's a sexual orientation.
  2. If I have no desire or plan to date trans men because they don't have a biological penis, why waste their time and my time? Why would it be so bad to politely "advertise" that fact?
  3. Does anyone REALLY believe TRAs will just leave it alone if a lesbian politely turns down a trans woman for having a penis?

Pretty much every “lesbian” sub on reddit is devoted to talking about much they like women and dislike “cis” men. By this logic, shouldn’t all these subs stop talking about why lesbians don’t like “cis” men? The logical conclusion of this argument is that everyone should pretend to be pan to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.
