Plenty of lefties are aghast about this pattern of insane bullying, no worries. I do think we're trying to figure out how to respond to it since it is, indeed, a crapton of bullying and trying to get people fired, etc. So I'm not sure trying to pick a political side will help, here, if it's about just one issue, but it's interesting that conservatives often agree with us more vocally. Gotta start somewhere, but I'm not about to become a conservative because we agree about this particular thing. But having agreement about basic aspects reality is cool and I like that part, as far as it goes.

Agreed. The left always seems to exclude while the right always seems to recruit. They're both creepy to me, but my values (nationalized healthcare, gay marriage, abortions for everyone, worker protections, etc) are more in line with the left, so I will vote accordingly.

Ok I get you, to clarify I should mention that this issue got me to this line of thinking "wait if I agree with the evil conservatives on this issue maybe they're not just dumb hillbillies or power hungry monsters" and so I looked into some more of their policies and found that maybe I'm center? a centrist? A lot of their policies make sense to me and though I don't agree with everything I can recognize that they have good arguments.

I think it really depends on whose positions you are contemplating. There's more variety among conservatives than we usually notice from our typical distances.

The one thing I would be careful about is how slick some of them are at presenting reasonable-sounding positions that are not actually backed up by facts (or, much too often, empathy or compassion). They're more used to that type of intellectual dishonesty, though sadly some parts of the left seem to be trying hard to catch up. Beware of snake oil.

We could wander off into musing about how much validity there is to scientific attempts to quantify differences between the brains of conservatives and other people, but there's something to be aware of there, as well, particularly as it relates to fear responses and how a person regards authority figures. Don't have time to dig any of that up at the moment.

The world is pretty gray, despite humanity's attempts to simplify it into black and white. I'm hopeful that finding points of agreement constitutes having a bridge which might prove fruitful about other things.

Appreciate it, I've noticed their way appeals to my analytical side - not too big on feelings and also may be sick of years of the be nice, be overly kind shit. Also I'm european first so they appeal to that not so pc side , I have noticed that there are some issues like abortions where I just can't get completely behind them you know.
