Haha, I'm not East Asian, but as an Asian Kid, I'll tell you this much. You CANNOT say "mom/dad I'm LGBT!" and expect to live to tell the tale. LGBT is seen as a white people problem and your parents WILL NOT tolerate that kind of bullshit from you. "We did not sacrifice everything and bring you into this country so you can be gay trans boy/girl uwu!" Just go lurk on /r/Asianparentstories if you really want to have your eyes opened about how different Asian style parenting can be. (And yes, of course, not all Asians. The stories that end up there are the worst examples. I used to post there a lot....)

There are still LGB Asian kids of course, I am one, but we just learn to HIDE it, our parents don't need to know everything about us. There are very very few trans, and most of them are MTF not FTM, and most of the MTF are also "gay men/ladyboys", not "straight male lesbians."

i'm mixed (wmaf) so i've had less grief over coming out to my immediate family, but i know the vast majority of my extended family is very homophobic, so even though i doubt that i'm the only gay cousin (at least statistically, since there are so many of us), i'm probably never going to know

"LGBT is seen as a white people problem" Sad how true this is.

Thanks for that sub. Though it is a tad aggravating reading through those posts. It's like the most frustrating aspects of APs distilled. Yeah- not completely exclusive to Asian cultures and being more extreme experiences, but still.. too familiar.
