Artists have always felt a desire to not just make things that people like cause they're pretty or fun, but to make something that matters. Hence why so much art includes social commentary or political messages. Trans-politics have simply become the latest thing for Artists Who Want To Matter™ to latch on to if they have no real struggle in life but still want to feel like they're contributing to some Serious Issue.

Whether it will affect people... Absolutely. It already is. If you're young, insecure and starved for attention and a sense of purpose, all of media and "journalism" and education is telling you that with the magic words "I am trans" you will be treated as special, untouchable, flawless, brave and important. Who wouldn't take that offer? There's more to come, too. The developers of Life Is Strange (a game series particularly popular with young women) is currently working on a game in which the main character will be a "trans man." They don't care. They will push this crap and hurt countless people in the process so long as it makes them feel tingly and warm in their tummies about how important and brave they are for pushing it.

PS: "Transparent" is complete trans-propaganda. The series is modeled after the creator's life. She had a trans-identified father and sometime into making the show she came out as nonbinary. Total nonsense.
