Well, its because the content has gotten so standardized and polarized.

Social media has been gamed to cater to segments of the market/audiences with select buzzwords pertaining to topics/titles. If it was actually organic and virtual participation was without consequences or pernicious deception, then of course; we'd shoot the shit and enjoy saying dumb stuff.

For my post, I have no regrets ;(

It’s the same ratio as it’s ever been. We were dealing with the same facts in 2006. I don’t really see it as a “problem” — just something to be aware of.

But the same happens on communities like StackOverflow, where it's not about politics.
