I honestly don't understand the anger here in the comments. Iranian women did not have religious crap forced on them in the 60s and 70s, and then the revolution came and they did. Suddenly they couldn't wear miniskirts, show their hair, have male friends, etc. and that's authoritarian crap.

Intelligent Iranian people miss their freedom terribly and the younger generation are well aware of what they don't have. They all know how to use a VPN and see the rest of the world online. Their petty tyrant men get off on having government jobs harassing women. That's how the system keeps going. I've asked so many Iranian people what holds it up when most people hate it. There's just enough tyrants in power that keep it going. I was talking to a friend there via Zoom just last month. He's in the process of getting a student visa to get out.

The price of everything there is insanely high and sanctions make some things hard to get. The people certainly don't want to be bombed.

But Iranian women (and men) deserve freedom from religious extremist tyrants. They've been subject to this for 40+ years now. All the sane people desperately want to leave. Many of the Jewish and Armenian people are granted refugee status, usually via Germany to the USA. Ethnic Persians have a much harder time getting out.

I don't understand the anger directed at this woman's post. Women want to take that damn hijab off. More power to them.

I FRICKING LOVE Iranians, and their country.

As usual, government is the problem.

It is really bad there, people have no idea!

So the claim is that the so-called "sane" Iranians are emigrating to the racist, war-mongering, mass-murdering U.S. Empire which is largely responsible for supporting radical Islamists all across my Asian continent (the U.S. armed extreme Islamists in Afghanistan in the 1980s and in Syria recently, even took part in orchestrating the coup in Iran, etc). Everyone "sane" in Asia knows that the U.S. is the one who is largely responsible for destroying Iran's fledgling economy & democracy. Moreover, the U.S. is the one who instigated "siege warfare" (crippling sanctions) against Iran - and it's scientifically proven that sanctions hurt women and children the most. The U.S. is the biggest "religious extremist tyrant" on this planet - it attacked and invaded Iran numerous times now.

As for "Intelligent Iranians" - they'd be well-advised not to put too much trust in 'activists' who bow down to psychopathic, Racist, Western-supremacist North American invaders and who want 'Anglosphere' Twitter to further vilify and ostracise West Asian countries like Iran (which is one of the few countries that has the guts to stand up against U.S. Imperialists invading & conquering my Asian continent). Hijab or no hijab, it's far more criminal that American & NATO invaders consistently rain b0mbs on Asian women's heads every decade now (and almost never face any criminal trials for such unrepentant Imperialism).
