I know how to feel about this if the woman posting that is an adult. She went down a rabbit hole and got herself into panic attacks and attempted suicide? Come on! I do empathize, but not to the point of not calling her a bit... dim.

I'm glad she eventually realized it was because of her choices, but she missed it was because of her thinking process, as well. Looking for advice online is perfectly fine, as long as you take everything with a grain of salt, apply some critical thinking skills and look for as many differing opinions (and try to understand why those opinions exist). Looking for help in real life too would be optimal, though.

Also, feminists do fund domestic violence shelters, etc... She would have noticed that if she wasn't so busy feeding her fear with the specific posts, she was interested in.

That's exactly the point that she was making. Internet "support" circles can easily suck you into a vicious circle of learned helplessness and perpetual victimhood. This woman should be given kudos for firstly escaping from that and secondly talking about it, not put down as "dim".

She started at 14 and decided to take responsibility by not getting involved in those communities and blindly seeking emotional support from anyone when she was 19. So I think being an adult was part of the process of leaving.

She said she still is a feminist so I think she is saying she supports the feminists who fund shelters not the ones who do performative things.
