The link actually took me here, which was worse:

Does this link work for the original article? Because it's seriously too funny (unintentionally) to miss.

Being born with a uterus doesn't automatically mean you're a woman.

True. It just means you're female. This is how female mammals have offspring. A cow has a uterus. Cows aren't women.

the only safe space I had regarding periods was the all-girls Catholic school

Well say goodbye to all-girls anythings now. Irony lost on her?

This association can also hurt cis women who have health issues and don't menstruate at all.

Two women close to me had to have hysterectomies. The only positive thing either told me was "at least I don't have to deal with periods anymore!" Neither has told me "the sight of tampons and pads labelled as women's products hurts my identity!"

Womanhood should depend on how people self-identify. Full-stop.

In fact, we should ALL make our own rules about everything! Everyone who claims to be Napoleon, Jesus, the reincarnation of whoever, so be it!

Because when you're assigned female at birth and identify as a woman, the crunch of a pad wrapper isn't just a possibility for embarrassment. It isn't the kind of liability that could result in transphobic harassment or even physical assault.

Is the word "don't" missing? A woman who "identifies" as a woman uses the women's room, and other women are familiar with that crunch and aren't going to assault you. If you're doing that in the men's room, most men will be disgusted, and a few will want to stick that used pad in their own underwear and post selfies of it on reddit.

Transmasculine people often experience severe dysphoria while menstruating. Gender dysphoria can look like increased irritability, anxiety, a depressed mood, fatigue, and an uptick in mood swings overall.

Wow, it sounds so much like what women go through when we get our period! So PMS is actually "gender dysphoria" -- who knew!

I had to stop there. This woman needs help.

I couldn't read the whole thing because it was tedious and reeked of first world problems. The problem is completely artificial. She is a woman who menstruates, which will not be shocking to anyone, and she could use the women's bathroom without any issue. The only barrier or potential harm is entirely in her mind. These people are hurting themselves with this convoluted and completely unnecessary ideology. She is putting so much energy into resisting reality. Just accept that you're a woman and do you; no one is stopping you.

Right? And I hate the implication that no one has any issues with real women and their periods. Leave the hugbox behind and stop being the only thing standing in your way, I promise life is more enjoyable once you stop viewing people as solely allies and enemies.

Yes, many women do bleed. But being born with a uterus doesn't automatically mean you're a woman.

Super uncommon, but the odd male with balls does develop a uterus, it's down to some genes acting incorrectly.

Found out last year. Don't let a TRA trip you with that

Good point.

Also, in refuting the nonsense that the gender speshuls and TRAs spout about bleeding=being female, I point out that not all female humans born with uteri will reach menarche and thus will have menstrual bleeding. Some never will because they have various medical conditions that lead to pituitary gland or ovarian failure, or because they went through medical treatment prior to puberty such as chemotherapy for cancer that stopped their ovaries from working or required them to be removed.

As for PMDS, my understanding is that the uterus and Fallopian tubes in boys & men with this condition tend to be small and not fully developed, and if unnoticed and not removed early in life will deteriorate and become cancerous.

In the literature I've read on this very, very rare male DSD, the uteri and tubes found in males with PMDS are often referred to as "Mullerian structures" or "Mullerian remnants."

Also, even if a male with PMDS were to be born with a uterus and tubes that's 100% like a normal female uterus and tubes in all respects, after birth these structures would not develop as a female's uterus and tubes do coz the mini-puberty of infancy and the puberty of adolescence that the boy will go through will be testosterone-heavy male puberties, not estrogen-heavy female puberties.

As far as I understand it, a male with PMDS would never have the possibility of menstruating because functioning ovaries are needed for menstruation.

Some males with PMDS who reach puberty or adulthood without their condition being discovered do find blood in their semen, but that's not coz they're menstruating.

Which brings up the "problematic" issue of the TRAs saying things like

"many women do bleed."

Actually, ALL women and girls can and do bleed. All men and boys can and do bleed too. Ditto other animals. Bleeding is not linked to sex or gender identity, or to being human. It's linked to having blood and blood vessels.

When TRAs talk about "bleeding" in this way I always insist they specify that they are talking about menstrual bleeding or vaginal bleeding specifically, not just any kind of bleeding.

Moreover, TRAs need reminding that not all bleeding done through the vagina is menstrual. Women bleed quite a lot during the process of giving birth, and in the hours, days and weeks afterwards. Women can and do bleed from the vagina due to miscarriage, fibroids, ovarian cysts, cancer and other medical conditions. Some women have mild bleeding - spotting - during ovulation and at other times.

Also, rather than just being a passageway for blood from the rest of the female reproductive tract, the vagina itself can and does bleed for various reasons such as the hymen breaking, various medical conditions or injuries. I haven't menstruated in many years, but had vaginal bleeding not long ago from vaginal shingles.

Wow! How odd. Guaranteed TRA will all be jealous of this now:

Boys born with persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) usually have undescended testes (cryptorchidism) or inguinal hernias. In children, PMDS is usually diagnosed by accident during surgery to treat one or both of these conditions, and a uterus and/or other female organs are found. Adults with PMDS are at increased risk for infertility and for developing testicular cancer.

The woman needs help, yes!

And a media outlet that calls itself "Health.com" and publishes this absurd yet dangerous drivel needs to be exposed and stopped.

If people like us don't speak out, I feel that the masses will start to believe this bullshit because it's coming from all sides and from formerly respected places. I am not encouraging anyone who will be in danger of job loss, harassment, etc.,to speak out (!!!)

Only those of us who can, because the gender lobby is changing the Overton Window at such a rapid clip that by next week we will be at "transwomen are women and women are pretenders who need to be locked in camps from birth and only fed till the age when we can give up our uteri to the women with penises."
