For anyone who's ever used OKCupid, you know there's an 'About Me' section that lets you specify your personal details from (somewhat) trimmed-down, searchable lists - think race, height, faith, education, employment, etc.

OKC was also one of the dating platforms that hopped on the gender train early - adding gender options beyond Man/Woman, including the below woke smorgasbord of identity LARPs

which I rolled my eyes at at the time but is generally harmless (FOR INCLUSION!!).

They also included an option to select your pronouns, including the option to specify your own "Other" with a free form field. Whatever you select/type in gets slapped into the blank "Uses ______ pronouns" when displayed in the sidebar of your profile.

So here's where it gets interesting, since I am a smarmy bastard, I typed in a few different options to make a joke out of it - e.g. "only correct".

So I thought I'd be real cute and leave it as "Uses only sex-based pronouns" but lo and fucking behold, they put a field mask in JUST THIS ONE, FREE-FORM FIELD for the word "sex".

This shit is so 1984 - where moral "betters" change the culture by changing the language to trim out any way to speak about verboten topics.

And the problem isn't that some neurotic, militant-identitarian leftist employee took the discretion (or even the directive) to put this largely-useless feature on the page, but rather that Big Tech as a whole actively seeks out only people of this mindset in hiring.
