this sort of thing will be an issue in 2022 and 2024 if the Republicans frame it correctly. They need to appeal to women voters, and the D's cannot walk this stuff back after pushing it this hard for so long.

Is either party really "progressive" at this point?

One party has sold the lie that the only thing that matters to women is abortion rights. As long as women march to the beat of that drum without thinking of all the other ways that policy can influence their lives in a negative fashion, this stuff will continue. Are the Republicans pro-woman ? Not by a long shot, but at least they'll recognize what the word actually means and they'll defend that definition. The Democrats will happily sweep that reality aside in the name of wokeness.

I hate to put it in such blunt terms, but it is far easier for a woman not to get pregnant than it is to fend off an attacker in a place that was formerly restricted to actual women but which will now be open to anyone who "identifies as a women"(but is actually there b/c he is a perv and can now enter these spaces with zero questions asked). One party is going to eagerly lift those restrictions and brag about doing so while Roe was never going to be overturned.
