That post is weird. Why is it necessary to put your entire life on hold for 15 years to get cosmetic surgery and buy shoes?

It's not necessary, it's just that they are so obsessed with it that they end up doing it.

They crave validation and focus all their energy and time towards making it harder and harder to be recognized for what they are. They just end up not being able, physically, emotionally and mentally, to do anything else.

This is a person who's struggled with mental illness their entire life and realized that they couldn't fix it through transitioning. What they're saying is that they spent so much focus on transitioning and their trans identity that they neglected everything else. They've been engrossed in their own mental illness to the extent of not living. What makes it worse is that if they surgically transitioned and went on HRT they didn't just waste 15 years, they probably shortened their total lifespan too.
