The Lambda Literary Awards has been around for decades, it's not a recent thing. It's given awards to every letter of LGBT as long as there has been an LGBT (so it started giving T awards around the mid 1990s).

Also, not sure it's accurate to describe Lambda Literary Awards as "academia."

What's odd to me is that the LLA categories are "lesbian or gay" and "bisexual or transgender." The latter seems peculiar coz it's making it seem that being bisexual and transgender are equivalent, perhaps overlapping and the same.

That's so weird. I know I would rather not be lumped in with them, I think most other bisexuals would feel the same
