I think the Dr. Lisa Littman study out of Brown University (and other studies) also argue that it's gay, autistic, ADHD or troubled kids who transition, so in your order not vice versa the way trans activists argue.

My impression from stories of detransitioners is that BPD often plays a role as well due to a general unstable sense of identity. I think that one study on trans-identified people and personality disorders that was posted here some time ago had a relatively high rate of BPD for TiFs at least if I remember correctly.

It would make sense to me, given what I see of them online, that TiFs have a higher rate of BPD and TiMs a higher rate of NPD, but I don't recall seeing an actual study of the former.
