There are adult women both in Japan and western countries that still wear it but they usually do not go for the "sweet" style (pastel colours, prints with toys and sweets etc., plush toy purses) but wear toned down versions that bear some resemblance to historical, vintage or goth fashion. In western countries most teens cannot afford to dress like that because it's quite expensive. Of course this doesn't excuse what this creepy man is doing, especially joining communities where most members are clearly younger and female.

Yeah, exactly. We never belonged anywhere near the LGB and especially not near the TQ. I remember the late 00s when in asexuality forums the topics were still about real issues like not being taken seriously by doctors and especially gynaecologists (and also psychotherapists), relationship problems etc. (no, we aren't systematically oppressed but there are real issues that we do face) and it wasn't about gender and not being horny 24/7.

Thanks for that comment. That's exactly how I feel about this as well. As someone who considers herself asexual I've never been sexually attracted to anyone and I'd say romantic attraction is deeply emotional, wanting to be very close emotionally and also physically, just in non-sexual ways. Maybe these "aromantic" people just meet to few people or are just super socially awkward.

The asexual community has become a complete joke since everyone who doesn't immediately want to fuck everyone and doesn't fall in love all the time is considered asexual instead of just normal.

As an asexual, I agree. It's not LGB. Asexuality in the true sense (not being a spectrum) would be best off on it's own, without anything else attached, especially not the TQ+ part. I guess asexuals in same-sex relationships have relations to the LGB because on the outside and - if they marry or so - on a legal level their relationships look and mostly work pretty much like regular homosexual relationships.

Not OP but when I, as a non-homosexual person, think of what homosexual people might do I don't think of anal sex or anything involving penetration necessarily. However, when I think of hetero sex I think of PIV sex first. I guess what these people might call themselves depends on what they think the expectation is for what types of sexual interaction are likely to occur.

I think I get what you mean, stuff like French kissing for example (as opposed to the sort of "dry kiss" a parent might give a child). I was just asking because whenever it comes to asexuals being in "romantic" relationships the topic of physical closeness comes up and some people seem to see for example cuddling as someone that only happens with a romantic partner but to me for example it's just something that requires a certain level of emotional intimacy, independent of whether that'd be in a relationship or not.

Personally, I do want physical closeness, I'm just not interested in or even averse to anything sexual or erotic. (I want to add that the aversion is because I just somehow don't "get" it, so no past experiences or anything.)

Agreed. And "grey-asexual" is also just normal. Some people would fuck anyone, others only very, very few people but that's just normal. The only "spectrum" here is normal sexuality.

Interesting question...no, I've never asked. All I know is that she did participate in PIV sex and never felt sexual attraction.

May I ask what you define as "erotic interaction"?

On a side note, I also call myself asexual because I've never felt any kind of sexual attraction towards anyone (and just for reference, I've never been sexually abused and only mildly harassed, no trauma, no mental illness, no autism, take no medication whatsoever) and have no interest in any kind of sex, penetration or not.

I'd argue that some people use this label in an attempt to appear special and "deep" while others find comfort in the existence of this label because they feel alienated from hookup culture and the expectation that everyone has to want sex pretty much immediately. In reality, however, people are simply different and some move faster while others need more time and there's nothing wrong with this.

Asexuals can have sex just like homosexuals could have sex with a member of the other sex. It gets weird when they willingly do it and enjoy it because that goes against what asexuality (or sexual orientation in general) is.

As for relationships, I have a friend who's not at all interested in sex but had it anyway because she thought it's just what you do in relationships and she never questioned it. Needless to say, her relationships failed because of her disinterest in sex. She's not at all prudish, she just didn't really understand that most people genuinely want sex. So this definitely happens.

Thanks a lot! I was mainly asking about this aspect because if they seriously wanted to reduce murders of TIMs then why don't they start with reducing murders of prostitutes? Ah, right, because the overwhelming majority of prostitutes are women, and men want to keep on buying women's bodies. Shows that they neither care about women (which we know already anyway) nor TIMs, and the TIMs are too stupid to realize it because they're too busy screaming transphobia...

I feel like it's more of a bad mix of porn, too much internet, women being harassed and treated as inferior etc. and especially these things mixed with mental illness.

My impression from stories of detransitioners is that BPD often plays a role as well due to a general unstable sense of identity. I think that one study on trans-identified people and personality disorders that was posted here some time ago had a relatively high rate of BPD for TiFs at least if I remember correctly.

What really annoys me is how exactly these people always argue that they're only so distressed because their gender identity isn't respected and how trans people only feel so horrible because no one accepts their being trans-identified when all of the statistics I've seen so far point in the opposite direction, namely that they are severely mentally ill to begin with which is likely the reason for their gender confusion and issues.

I was also thinking of things like "you need to have sex after X dates" and stuff like that which will certainly make people feel weird or wrong when they just don't have those feelings at this point. Some people move faster, some move slower, some are primarily attracted by factors relating to sex appeal, others are more attracted by emotional factors. It's all okay in my opinion.

I agree that nowadays many of those labels are (ab)used by the "uwu crowd" and others who desperately want to be special but I always assumed those labels were initially created because people felt weird or alienated by certain things and expectations and were trying to find out what's wrong with them and find others who are feeling the same way. In many cases, however, there was nothing wrong with them, what was "wrong" were the expectations to do certain things and be a certain way.

I don't think this has to do with prudishness but probably that emotional factors are more important than how "hot" someone is, however, this is neither weird nor a separate orientation. I guess for most people out there it's a mix of both factors anyway. I'd say this label is a result of a society where you're expected to immediately want to fuck everyone just because they're remotely "hot".

I'd add that another part of this fascination is how, because of gendered toys, clothes etc., girls grow up with princess stuff, being put into cute dresses etc., so it makes sense that some women continue to enjoy this type of thing later on. In some way, historical costuming is just a more age-appropriate version of dressing up as a princess. This also explains the appeal of Lolita fashion.

And as always, some get obsessed with it while others don't but the less/not obsessed ones aren't going to make youtube videos about this. Also, lots of people seem to love this very curated life people present online, so I'm not surprised that people like Bernadette become popular. On the other hand, I don't think this means that everyone following these interests/hobbies is obnoxious.

Personally, I feel that the gendering of words has become a huge thing that highlights the increasing trans bullshit. In the past it was just the male and the female version of a word that was given (for example "Schauspieler/in" for "actor/actress") and then these discussions happened about how to be more "inclusive" of "other genders" and now I constantly see articles about how everyone absolutely needs to adopt the "Gendersternchen" (example: "Schauspieler*in").

I'm making a point of not using this and I firmly stick to male and female only. A good reason I read about for not using the "*" is that it puts women behind the "other genders" even though we're at least 50% of all humans and thus way more people than the "other genders".

OP, you've used this here as well by saying "trans*". I suggest you stop using this because it's a construct introduced precisely to imply that there are more than 2 sexes.

I never got the impression that being a GNC male is any way a problem. For example I've seen lots of support for letting boys be kids and not transing them when they show GNC preferences. "Appropriating womanhood" is about expecting to get sex-based protection (being let into women's spaces etc.) when you are a man, just on the basis of "identifying" as a woman. GNC males don't say they are women, so they are entirely different.
