Thank you for that very informative and insightful post! It gave me a lot to think about.

In my experience: History is written by the victors. George W. Bush would have been hanged for war crimes in a just world instead of being perceived as a harmless, bumbling, drunken, oil-painting uncle.

And right now history is being re-written. Things that I remember clearly, and that were documented at the time, are being re-written and no one goes back to check. Like Stonewall (I don't remember that clearly, but I do remember the gay rights movement from the 1970s on and it's not the complete rewrite that the TQ+ activists are pushing now)

And this whole post-Modernist thinking that has taken over is a mind fuck. We don't know what reality is any more and we don't know who to trust as a result. I think it's one of the major factors in both TWAW and Trump.

I agree that history is written by the victors, but very often we don't know all the players and so we cannot identify the victors. I don't know nearly as much as others about the example of Geroge W. Bush, but there were other individuals around him who were major players, and then there were businesspeople/corporations who are purportedly non-governmental actors, but are intertwined with the governmental actors and profited.

The who trans lobby situation has been really helpful for me in understanding the extent to which we are not playing with a full deck of cards. There are so many interests at play, so many stakeholders, so many people behind the scenes, and we still don't know who all of them are and what is motivating them. When I think about the distant future how they will teach this era and ideological movement in schools, I wonder how the hell they will ever condense it. I also have no idea what the future will look like and who the "victors" will be because we have yet to face the major backlash that is coming against liberals in the U.S. for the antisocial harm they are committing pursuant to gender ideology. I never knew what "evil" could look like coming from the left, and now I have a much better sense of it and how it came to be.

Read the Gulag Archipelago or the Killing Fields, but I don't think either are going to happen in the US because there are too many MAGA types with guns. Trust me on this, as bad and bat shit crazy as the Antifa-types running around Portland are, the MAGA-ists in the US are equally as bad and bat shit.

I know it's really popular at the moment to worry about The Left in the US, and for women, our fears with the gender stuff destroying our rights are legitimate. But having lived through the Reagan, Bush I and Bush II years, especially the era between 9/11 and the first backlash against Iraq War II, I can tell you that the Right can be equally as frightening and repressive.

During Bush II, I was put on a special screening list at the airport for simply opposing Iraq War II. Hauled aside and patted down in my private places every single time I flew was definitely designed to intimidate me from speaking out. And I wasn't a leader of the antiwar movement or anything close.

Seriously, anyone on here who doesn't think Trump will go wild with his own version of a police state and sweeping attacks on the Bill of Rights his second term might be too young to remember when it was the Republicans who had the issue with free speech.

Hmmm I seem to be at least as old as you and I respectfully disagree with your perspective. And I too am on a special list for airports and other etc which discreetly, shall not give any further details. What does that have to do with anything? Being on a special list doesn't mean that either one of our perspectives is correct, it only means we shouted a bit too loudly into the wind.

Anyway. The right has been batshit, true. But the left has now entered the twilight zone, they adore fascism and totalitarianism with a fervor which would make Stalin and Mussolini proud. I can't see them giving that up anytime soon and it appears to be getting worse with every passing year. Republicans have never attempted to coerce people to lie about basic reality the way liberals are currently. Humans cannot change our sex, this is fundamental on the same level as denying basic laws of gravity. Once a government agrees -- as the liberals do -- that it's acceptable to code outright lies about biology into law and practice which then requires obedience, then what other lies will that government demand?

You sound like you are afraid of the ghost of christmas past, while orwell himself is knocking on your door.

If anyone cares about the environment (and the West Coast is burning), health care, a comprehensive plan to tackle COVID, COVID monetary relief for the average person, FOOD & WATER SAFETY STANDARDS, funding for education.. I could just go on, vote for the Democrats.

The Democrats, no matter how demented they are about the gender issue, can be reasoned with, Trump cannot.

The Far Left has very little power - they are being used to get people scared that if Biden wins the US will disintegrate.

Joe Biden is a neo-Liberal - he's a corporate goon. He's not going to turn this country into the USSR.

Democrats like Biden and Harris are only slightly less corporatist than the Republicans, but the Democrats will occasionally throw average Americans a bone, whereas today's GOP work for the 0.1% and corporations only.

There are very powerful forces, both private (Soros) and other countries who fund agent provocateurs like some of these goons running around rioting while pretending they're with BLM. The New York Times had an interview with top US intelligence agents in March saying that Putin was going to do his best to disrupt the election using these kinds of tactics.

If you'll notice this whole Black Lives Matter and similar incidents designed to set races against each other came up in 2016 and then disappeared. To some extent, the transgender push, partially funded by Soros (he was the largest funder internationally for years) is another tactic to set people against each other.

But again, the Democrats are not Far Left, they are neo-Liberals, but they will do a little bit to help versus the GOP who couldn't give a shit about us.

And if you don't care about all the things I named above, maybe care about the fact that Trump seems to be having dementia-like and neurological issues and has his finger on the nuclear trigger.

Also, Trump has made it clear by his actions that he has no respect for the rule of law. He has a fanatical base that seem ready to die for him. Let's hope they fight it out with Antifa and leave the rest of us alone.

In regards to me being on the special screening list, after being pulled aside for body searches for the umpteenth time, I asked the agent. He confirmed that I was on a list. Since I have never committed, much less been been prosecuted for, a crime, but had been lobbying Congress against Iraq War II, I can only assume that my anti-war efforts were responsible for be being on an airport screening list.

Oh and war, while the Democrats are equally war-mongers, in the Middle East especially, Our Donald, with his "peace treaty" (with Arab nations that weren't at war and were already cooperating with the US and with Israel) and accusations that Iran is trying to assassinate a US ambassador, is setting us up for an attack on Iran.

Many of the Dems want it too, but they're not likely to use nuclear weapons (although who knows) but Donnie is crazy enough to use nuclear weapons.

And then, our Covid Summer will seem like a happy memory as Nuclear (+COVID) winter descends on the world.
