Yes! We have as many ways to say 'contemptible fool' as we have to complain about the weather. For example in roughly increasing order of offensiveness (it's not an exact science):

  • dozy prong
  • absolute weapon
  • prat
  • plank
  • mardy arse (like wazzock, mardy is northern English, means disagreeable or irritable)
  • pillock
  • cockwomble
  • knobhead
  • nugget
  • gobshite (this is Irish but has crossed the water)
  • bellend
  • fuckwit
  • wanker

Each with its own unique subtle variation of meaning, and differing level of vulgarity.

For Americans reading this, absolute is a common prefix for emphasis for all of the above insults.
