Both: How do you feel about Ovarit shutting down?

I'm upset about it. On the bright side, maybe this will spark some activity on the debate sub. Things have been pretty dead here for a while.

I think its too bad she didn't want to pass the site on to someone else. Seems kinda contol-freak-y.

I’m sad about it. More just frustrated and disappointed though. Not at the site admins and mods, but at some of the members who likely made moderating more time-consuming and frustrating than it had to be. I feel bad at how burnt out they must feel because after all that work put into building up a community, it’s got to be painful to make the decision to shut it down.

Yeah, it really sucks. I just wish the owner had found someone she trusted so she could have turned the site over.

This sub is dead, next most recent post is a year ago.

I forgot this sub was here. I'll check in but I can see it might be hard to get people to come back...

So far I haven't seen a regular place that will replace Ovarit, and it feels like everyone is scattering or just getting offline which is upsetting. It'd be nice if there were a more obvious replacement or the site could get passed on.

I was getting seriously annoyed at the mean spiritness toward Sarah Mcbride and kind of stopped posting---but i am kind of sad. It was one of the only places where you could talk about how horrible gender stereotypes were and how being a woman kind of sucks at times, without people wondering if you are trans. I also met a lot of really nice people and was reinquanted with a bunch of We Hunted the Mammoth posters from a while back. It is too bad she couldn't find someone else to take over!
