No one is giving up a preference though?

Stop being dense.

Jay asked you specifically about why homosexual people who face consequences for being homosexual don’t just change their preference.

You’ve been going on about Nazi bigots ever since but you never answered the question.

If sexuality is not just innate but also a preference (as you stated), why don’t those persecuted for their preference just change preferences, rather than suffer?

Why choose to endure pain instead of just “switching teams”?

How about you not use ableist insults?

Because people can’t just change their preferences? I never said they could.

Sorry I should have said “intentionally dense”

If it’s a preference, it means it’s not a requirement. It’s just what you’d rather have.

So again, why would someone endure suffering when they are okay with the other option (heterosexuality) and could just “switch teams” and be straight? It’s just a preference, which would mean they can rather easily give it up and not be oppressed/harmed. So why didn’t they? Why don’t they still, in some places?

Still ableist.

I disagree that preferences are inherently not requirements. Preference just denotes a desire for one state of affairs over any others.

Again, you don’t get to choose what your preferences are.

Then you have no idea or at least no real understanding of what the word “preference” means and you’ve wasted all of our time

Or your just wrong about the meaning

preference [ˈpref(ə)rəns] NOUN a greater liking for one alternative over another or others.

This means that you like both/multiple, but would rather one. So yes, it would mean that they could have just decided to give up the thing they liked more (homosexuality) for the thing they liked a bit less (heterosexuality)

synonyms: liking · partiality · [more] a thing preferred.

"my musical preferences are blues and swing"

This example doesn’t mean they don’t like and enjoy and aren’t happy listening to other genres, just that they favor blues and swing

synonyms: favorite · first choice · [more] favor shown to one person or thing over another or others.

Should be self explanatory. “Favorite” doesn’t mean you don’t like other things, neither does “first choice” imply you don’t have other choices

"preference is given to those who make a donation"

Means they give “first choice” to people who pay

synonyms: priority · favor · [more] law a prior right or precedence

means “comes first” which means other options come after

"debts owed to the community should be accorded a preference"

this example sentence means that there are multiple debts to be dealt with, but ones owed to the community should come first

Explain to me how I don’t know what the word means?

Im not seeing anything saying you have to find the other options acceptable

[–]loveSloaneDebate King[S] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If you don’t find the other options acceptable they aren’t options.

People might say, " I prefer chocolate ice cream to strawberry," or vice versa. No one would ever say, "I prefer ice cream to dog shit."

This means that sexuality is not a preference, that's simple. You don't prefer one sex over another - you just can't get attracted to other sex at all, so there is no preference, no chosing involved.
