Most at least want a de facto ban. The “this is cosmetic and insurance shouldn’t pay for it” is essentially a ban. Nobody has 40k free cash.

Is that a hill other GC people really want to die on? I've never thought about insurance paying for surgeries. I assume you're talking surgeries and not hormones. I suppose I'd be okay with insurance covering it if a doctor signed off on it saying it was necessary. I don't think insurance should go around paying for SRS based on patient request alone, not least because it is a difficult, dangerous, and irreversible surgery.

Several here have emphatically argued to me that no public funds or insurance should cover it.

I know of zero surgeons that don’t follow the Wpath guidelines of 2 mental health providers one of which is a doctor reccomending Bottom surgery before it’s done.

I would disagree with those people. It seems unreasonable to me to force people to pay out of pocket for their own surgeries. I believe surgery should be rare, but I don't think it should be outlawed.

I think you mentioned that before. I know double mastectomies are on demand, no therapy or sign off required. Vaginoplasties are much more intense and brutal and have many more potential complications. I do not think anyone should support that moving to an on-demand model.

I don’t support no screening bottom surgery if that isn’t clear. At minimum you should need a psych to Okay you. That isn’t a surgery you want to regret.

That's good. Definitely not something you'd want to regret. I know you're a transmedicalist, so we're on the same page there.
