What's freaky strange is that Swedish people still seem to believe in their special status as a really sensible nation and that belief is only just beginning to break down in the face of Sweden's overwhelming practical and moral failure. The dangers of a pro-government cheerleading media.

The idea of the “opinion corridor” [...] It refers to the narrow range of opinions deemed appropriate in Swedish media.

This is what's been happening to the world at large. Sad.

Also the author of the article tries really hard not to let the right leaning party be right about something (they are opposing Sweden's covid policies only because "opposition is what they do", not because they thought about it and reached the conclusion they were wrong etc).

In the august pages of al-Guardian you have to take what you can get. Criticism of the left by the left is rare as hens' teeth, so of course they have to sweeten it with "and of course the righwingers are The Other" rhetoric so that readers don't vomit out the truth.
