Nuclear energy, and free flow energy setups would completely change the game. An excess of energy, and then the systems that allow energy to directly connect to the thing that needs it.

This way, the device would be in a sea of energy, and you would NOT have to carry the battery on you. Just the parts that use the energy. This was the genius behind the Tesla coil.

Flying devices are limited by their energy weight, the battery, the gas tank, the hydrogen tank. Etc. having energy in the air fixes that issue.

Also: thorium salt reactors. One for every neighbourhood.

The problem with that is that it's decentralized, and like the Internet, once out, it's hard to get the toothpaste back in the tube.
