IPFS is awesome but doesn't it expose your IP publicly on the network? If they could find a way to obfuscate that, IPFS could have a good shot of becoming the defacto standard like the world wide web

I don't know enough about it or the privacy aspect - but maybe if TOR and torrents/eD2K/KAD and IPFS were combined you might have a serious contender.

I've been using it recently, its like using the internet in the 90's because everything is static and there isn't much content but I like it. Filecoin is also the only cryptocurrency I'm interested in because all it does is monetize storage on the IPFS network so people have an incentive to preserve the content.

maybe if TOR and... IPFS were combined you might have a serious contender.

They have plans to do this in the future.

I love the idea behind Filecoin - and all of Protocol Labs work. They've been suppressed on Wikipedia, but my out-of-date InfoGalactic article is mostly better.

The problem now is that TOR only has so many entrance/exit ports and info can be sniffed out by those who control them. If more people adopted TOR or whatever fusion is upcoming then there might be a chance for a legit libre alternative.
