Berenson - not in response to a question, unscripted - inserted material designed to discredit both Malone and Ivermectin into an interview he and Malone were engaged in on Fox News. These comments were unexpected by the producers and unprompted from the context of the question he was asked, where he and Malone were being presented by the show as colleagues in the same fight. He was directly asked about the censors going after the covid skeptic movement and he responded by attacking Malone and Ivermectin. Because these attacks were not a response to the question he was asked, and because he started directly into them when responding to a direct question about another topic, it is clear his attack was pre-planned and was his priority going in.
Wheels within wheels. My sense is that Berenson has skeletons somewhere and someone has gotten to them. Someone has scared him with something he finds frightening enough that he will obey them.
This is a very unfortunate - and sadly effective - sowing of friction into the anti-mandate debate. His choice of targets (Malone and Ivermectin) demonstrates the clear intentionality of this attack. This is not just Berenson going off on his own; it's is a carefully planned attack on two of the strongest elements of the anti-authoritarian resistance.
The remaining question is will it succeed? For those of us who have been following Malone all year, this does nothing but to burn Berenson's platform to the ground. I've always viewed him as secondary to Malone in any case. But I think the point of the attack is to peel away the people who only discovered Malone through the Rogan appearance. Sadly, I worry that this attack will be unfortunately successful in blunting the progress that was coming so rapidly in the wake of that interview.
That said, the pro-authoritarian forces had to expend a very valuable piece of controlled-opposition (Berenson) to gain an uncertain result. This move strikes me as a move of weakness on their part; it was a relatively weak move (a cheap shot) which I believe is going to leave them weaker rather than stronger as the dust settles over this particular skirmish.
Onward.
