Most people live their entire lives in vain. Few make progress on the path of life.
Anything done without love for God and our fellow man can be considered a waste of time, of which we all only have a very small amount left to us.
Sin, or doing evil against our fellow man (and God), is the biggest time waster. When we do acts of unkindness, it is like we are walking the wrong way, going toward death rather than life. We will eventually have to turn around and return. The more we sin, the farther away we get from the goal, causing more redemptive work for ourselves. Sin is a waste of life and time, for ourselves and for those we hurt.
