Due to gravity factor, scientists invented special pen (costing massive) to write ✍️ In space as normal ink can flout in space rather than sticking on paper, tell me why they didn’t used pencil instead of wasting money on such expensive special pens?

Graphite conducts electricity and can cause a short circuit. The pen company developed the space pen on their own dime.

The graphite from the pencils as well as the wood shavings would cause a fire in the high oxygen environment with all the electrical connections for the instruments. The US then the Russians abandoned pencils because of the potential for a fire in space.
