Judging by the way he was forced to lift covid restrictions because he couldn't censor protests on the internet fast enough, it doesn't sound like he was pleasing his own people either, or the Tibetans or Uyghurs or Hong Kong or Taiwan, or Falun Gong, or anyone who doesn't agree with him.
