Hey, just wanted to give you a message of love and support. I don't really have anything to add from an advice perspective but hopefully everyone's advice gives you a place to start. You'll get through it and I hope you feel supported here.

yeah I agree with this - I don't watch porn but I do like fanfic and a bit part of why it's appealing is because it's almost always two men and there are no problematic gender dynamics to deal with.

It's a good question, I'm not sure. It's been a thing since I've been a student and then a midwife, so the last 7 years, but I don't know about before that. I remember being so annoyed (and actually quite surprised) as a student when my preceptors kept insisting on picking the pink and blue hats. Now I'm resigned and bitter hahaha

So frustrating!!! I read HP fanfic but not by this author, and I have stepped away from discord and facebook (which were my fandom spaces - I was never on tumblr thank goodness) due to the current JRK hatred. One discord I was in everyone was like "she's so crazy! No one uses the word menstruator! She's just making stuff up!" Just google menstruator and you'll see that actually it is being used! It's so frustrating trying to have a conversation about this.

Twitter won't let me use my GC account by sosorreal in GenderCritical

Were you able to use the GC one at all? I created an account a few weeks ago and refused to give my phone number and they wouldn't let me complete the steps to open it. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to final open it - I think I went through their "I got locked out of my account" process (even though technically I was locked out but had never been allowed in) but I had to follow up like 3 times before they let me access my account without a phone number. I think that might be what's happening to you. In this case I think it's unrelated to GC stuff.

It's hospital dependant. (Here in Canada, anyway!) Some hospitals still have the blankets from that article, and some have pink and blue ones - it's the same blanket but reversable, one side pink, one side blue. There's a plain white blanket I've seen a lot too... Almost every hospital I've been at has hats knitted in the community and people always try to make sure the baby gets the right colour, it drives me crazy!

Yup, I was going to recommend the copper IUD too. No hormones. I had heavy periods before and I haven't found them worse with it, personally. It can be tricky to find someone to insert them for women who haven't hard children, though, depending on where you're located.

Hormonal IUDs are great too, if you want to go for hormones but at a smaller dose. And stay away from the shot, which tends to be pushed on teens a lot (especially teens of colour if that applies to your daughter, OP). It's good for 3 months but there's no way to guarantee that the hormones are out of your system after 3 months, and no way to reverse it if she were to have side effects.

Finally, if your daughter wants to learn more about her cycle, you could get her Cycle Savvy by Toni Weschler (who wrote Taking Charge of your Fertility).

I'm a midwife and I've had lots of clients use it - I find (as a very general rule) if they are really invested it in and can put up with the "picture your cervix dilating... blah blah blah" to regularly do it (you're supposed to do the visualizations throughout pregnancy to prepare), it can really make a difference. Those women often manage pain a lot more internally (sort of turn into themselves) and without outside support, I have found.
