It spreads quickly in geeky subcultures because they have a lot of people with traits that make them vulnerable to trans rhetoric (autism, mental health issues, low self esteem, etc) and because a lot of these subcultures have escapist elements like roleplaying or wearing costumes that appeal to people for the same reason as transitioning often does - because they want to be anyone but themselves.

This guy thinks trans women are women and kids should transition at 12, and that still wasn't woke enough because 12 is waiting too long to start transitioning apparently... lol

I go back and forth on how much sympathy I have for trans-identified people and how willing I am to be respectful of their beliefs, since I know a lot of them (especially women) are in it to cope with something or another. I always think the ideology itself is unscientific, regressive, and harmful, though.

Apparently Contrapoints used to read Gender Critical - so he does know exactly how dishonest and woman hating he is by CaliforniGinger in GenderCritical

I have a friend that’s a big fan of Contra and would link me to his vids all the time - ironically, they were what got me on the path to peaking. His video on incels was a hundred times more understanding and empathetic than his video on gender critical women, and even though I was deep in TWAW rhetoric at the time, I couldn’t suppress the feeling that those videos were made by someone who didn’t understand my experiences as a woman at all.
