Besides the entire concept of "civilised conduct" and how it's been abused since it's conception is almost exactly the same as the idea of political correctness. It serves no practical purpose besides controlling serfs and maintaining the status quo. Respect simply demands respect in turn. Treat other people how you want to be treated. That's civility. No human being in their right mind wants to be censored for honestly expressing an opinion, as ignorant or offensive as that opinion may be. In what way is political correctness ever wielded benevolently? Teaching people to respect each other is called good education lol. No "political correctness" or self-censorship required.
