I knew where you were from the first comment you made. Hope they didn't lock you up.

In light of the r/PCOS nonsense, is there an appetite for women's health subs here on SaidIt? by strawberryfields4evr in GenderCritical

I'd join and participate in a space for women's health, definitely.

There's some censorship going on in the newly popular feminist subs and it needs to be openly addressed. by [deleted] in SaidIt

I couldn't have said it better myself.

All content that dissents on these topics is removed, but nobody is aware of what's being removed.

The fact that SaidIt has public moderation logs is fantastic - it demonstrates exactly what you're talking about, and makes it much easier to challenge moderation teams. I am a woman, and have had my point of view censored on /r/GC because it did not conform to the party line, and I saw it happen to others - which was a huge disappointment, and discouraged me from participating more regularly on Reddit.

I also find it troubling that a post specifically about discussing censorship on the sub was singled out as one that needed to be locked, especially right at the moment when the sub itself is fleeing censorship.

It's very frustrating that the mods would be forced to jump ship to a platform which is anti-censorship, because they've been censored... and immediately begin attempting to silence dissent. I find the hypocrisy staggering. I suspect, regarding the locked post discussing censorship, that the answer to that will be that it's "off topic" or some other such dismissive nonsense. A proper response to this would be great.

I love the lack of a downvote button. It's not necessary. You can choose to ignore those you don't wish to interact with without suppressing their posts and comments via what is essentially a 'dislike' button. I didn't come here expecting or wanting Reddit 2.0, and judging by the comments here, others feel the same.

I agree with you, and I'm hoping that the community here will be open to both sexes. The ever-present, unproductive and exhausting man bashing was the worst part of the Reddit GenderCritical community, and I got insulted repeatedly for challenging it, which made me stop commenting there altogether. I don't despise men, nor do I seek to avoid communicating with them, which was apparently an issue for many of the other women. I believe it is counterproductive to close the gates to certain groups.

I'm hoping that people here will learn from the experience they have just had, and not immediately start begging to be constrained and censored in the same manner they were on Reddit. If you don't like someone's comments or posts, and you can't bear to engage, you should learn to ignore.

Hi All. Today is my 9 year cakeday on Reddit, but I was banned from R/conspiracy for posting info on BLM, so I'll be posting here from now on. by Left_Reddit in conspiracy

I disagree. A downvote button is used by the vast majority of people as a "dislike" button - one which gives users the opportunity to bury people, words, or ideas they don't like. I think that the lack of a downvote button is great.

I'm here for the same reasons, and I agree that the subs you've highlighted here likely won't last, among others. From what I've seen so far, I think SaidIt is a good alternative. I've been aware of it for a while without creating an account, but this censorship wave is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Looking forward to having (hopefully) productive conversations with an interesting variety of people.
