My university recently had an event for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ alums at a reunion. I walked by the location just to see. I think there were three people there, who were probably the organizers.

A big problem with therapy is that the psychotherapist only sees the slice of the client's life that the client wants to present, so the client can lie or distort the truth, and the therapist has no way of independently verifying any of it. Thus, a therapist can actually end up making someone worse by validating their narcissistic delusions.

I have a family member who I know has lied to therapists, and they, of course, encourage her in her strange vendettas.

I'm glad Lindsay found this, but I also think he's being a bit obtuse in looking for a smoking gun. The idea of "sexual inversion" had been around since before John Money. I will lazily grab a general description of it from Wikipedia for the sake of convenience:

Sexual inversion is a theory of homosexuality popular primarily in the late 19th and early 20th century. Sexual inversion was believed to be an inborn reversal of gender traits: male inverts were, to a greater or lesser degree, inclined to traditionally female pursuits and dress and vice versa. The sexologist Richard von Krafft-Ebing described female sexual inversion as "the masculine soul, heaving in the female bosom".

There you have it: "the masculine soul." That's the smoking gun. This is the invention of gender identity as a way to try to account for homosexuality. Even though it ends up being discredited as an explanation for sexual orientation, it gets resurrected by Queer Theory in the 1980s when they go back and re-read all the German sexologists.

It's not some obscure idea that had to be narrowly funneled through John Money and/or Gayle Rubin. John Money took the idea and turned it into a medical procedure.

Well, the fact remains that modern gay identity appeared at around the same time as modern industrial capitalism and urbanization, in contrast to a more rural, agrarian way of life. And it was the same transformation of work and family that allowed women to live independently, as opposed to being bound to the family by childbearing and child-rearing responsibilities.

And, of course, capitalism created the smartphones that, in turn, created (or warped) the minds of Gen Z. I don't see too many of them wanting to go live off-grid in the wilderness. That would be too scary.

Like it or not gay couplings do not produce children. It stands to reason that any centralized planning will only value such relationships when they have a situation where they don't need more children.

Gay people are really too small a percentage of the population to have a great impact on the birth rate, and lesbian couples can easily produce children with a minimal sperm donation. If a government really wanted to increase the birth rate by any means, one step would be to outlaw contraception for heterosexual couples.

Gay rights is a football that's been tossed around all over the place. I've seen arguments to the effect that capitalism is fundamental to gay identity because wage labor makes it possible for individuals to live outside the structure of the traditional family.

I also heard that China is now doubling-down on family values because they see the patriarchal family as a tool for social order.

American Communists have never really lived under Communism, so I think they tend to see it as some sort of benign anarchy, bless their naive little hearts.

I noticed that fact that the author constantly uses "LGBTI" when it's obvious that gender ideology only matters to the T.

I've gotten into arguments on Reddit with people who claim gender ideology is some kind of bogeyman that doesn't exist -- when you can easily and clearly point to a body of academic work from the 1990s to the present that codifies it and informs social policy. It's so strange when people are trying to push an ideology while simultaneously claiming that it doesn't even exist.

While interesting, this is hardly surprising. Who else are you going to find at Columbia? I went to an expensive private college, so I know what it gets you. It doesn't necessarily get you a better education. What it gets you is the opportunity to network with the children of the rich and powerful so that you, too, can become rich and powerful down the line. I doubt these kids really care that much about Palestine. What they are doing is putting themselves out there as edgy or cool, in the pursuit of social status. You stand with the daughter of a UPS executive? Maybe she'll get you a job.

Some universities are officially private schools, but they pretty much all take some public/government funding, especially in the sciences in the form of research grants.

I went to a well-known private university, and it's now a major DEI clown show. They're constantly virtue-signaling. I can't remember when I saw any kind of press release that didn't picture a POC. And the administration goes along with any claim of racism, no matter how flimsy or fraudulent.
