If I were to take a guess I would say that he is probably the son of a liberal single mom who is enabling and encouraging this behaviour. He is probably estranged from his farther or never even knew him.

I'm pretty sure 50% of women have tattoos in the anglosphere now.

In Germany they call them English stamps.

In Judaism, we call them a sin that will keep you from being buried in a Jewish cemetery. They had to make an exception for holocaust survivors because they did not choose to get tattoos.
