Is that a stove pipe near the front?

Yep, there's a big metal pipe sticking out from it. I'm actually pretty curious about what it looks like inside.

I have seen people building structures like this in my town. We have a growing homeless population in spite our fairly small size. It's kind of amazing. I think drugs are a part of it, and so are high rent rates.

Meth addicts don't mind living in a tarp tent.

I personally lived around and camped with meth addicts for three solid years.

This problem is not going to magically disappear on its own, but instead it is going to grow and blossom into a massive and nationwide slum.

Muslims will be our master's that own our gas stations and corner stores.

Indians will own our motels

We will become enslaved to our new master's, we will be as slaves in exchange for decent food and a place to sleep.

Is it a county seat? They attract homeless due to the "free" resources. Also, if a city has done a lot to help the homeless, other cities will drop off the undesirables there.

I'm not sure what county seat means. It's a vacant lot a few houses up from my place where they tore down a decrepit house.

I was asking u/tiny-brown-mug. County seat is the town or city where the county government is located.

With an absentee land owner, if you want this lot cleared out, you'll probably have to get code enforcement involved.

Oh, gotcha. I personally don't mind it, I think it adds character.

It is. But it's still not a very big town, and taking into account the general vibe of my area, I'm assuming a lot of the homelessness is meth-related. You could be right, though, about folks migrating here from other parts of the county. It's the biggest town around, and people are more likely to find a place to camp, and find people to give them food, fuel, etc.

A lot of folks seem to be hand-building their own little structures out of debris, tarps, etc. It's kind of interesting. I mean, it's sad, but the resourcefulness and creativity of people who don't seem to have much of anything kind of amazes me. People come by and drop off bread, canned food, dog food if they have a dog, etc.

This is the beginnings of the new great slums.

Soon they will learn about cannibalism.

Due to economic destruction caused by a long stream of terrible political decisions...this will quickly become very common and not just in urban cities.

AKA the summer house at The Vineyard.

A year later, what is the status of this homeless camp? You previously confirmed there is a metal pipe. I wonder if they have a little wood stove in there to cook and keep warm.

Well once it got colder that year, I think the city made them vacate and then tore it down. It was kind of sad to see. I moved from the neighborhood so I'm not sure if anyone tried it again.
