Cats need cuteness to balance their cruelty. Everyone would hate and kill them otherwise.

Because cuteness can only be known in comparison. Once a cruel creature loses the race of cuteness, its fate is sealed. Beauty is cruel, UwU.

I think that perhaps some cats could be defined as "cruel" and some not. To generalize and suddenly mentally group all cats as a single unit would be erroneous. Even trends set by "most" cats would have exceptions, and in those exceptions, something interesting always seems to exist.

Also, I enjoy this pic and have stared at it for like a minute. It's terribly obvious that love seems to exist between these creatures, at least in this captured moment.

I know that big cats sometimes befriend or adopt their prey. But they have strong instincts. When a cat tries to stop itself from pursuing something fast or attacking its own head, you can see the struggle of will on its face. Once the eyes go red, the teeth do clank, and the friend, is now dead.
