This is gonna be real fun to watch from the sanctity of my Linux desktop. Not only will it be thrashing solid state drives mercilessly (they have limited write cycles), but, storing this much data about the user and what they do, even locally, which I doubt, is straight-up irresponsible. Besides, even if they say the analysis is kept local, you know that your particular interests (few KB of data) will be uploaded, whether that be to target you with advertisements or to target you with a raid by the government.
News flash, companies are not developing these features and giving them away because they have your best interests at heart. Also news flash, we are talking about one of the most aggressive companies that forces people to link their PC to an online account, and refuses to take "no" for an answer and respect personal space.
It's not the death of open computing at all. Not like someone's gonna come take away my Linux environment, it's merely entertainment for me to sit back, watch, and say "I told you so", when all of the reasons that this is a horrifically bad idea, of which there are probably many more that I haven't even thought of, start to present themselves.
