Is this done by Google Play Store? You should disable that regardless and use F-Droid instead, which is open-source. If you want the same catalog of apps: Aurora Store is an open-source alternative to Google Play Store that lets you install the same apps but without spying on you or controlling your device. Even better is to not use stock Android but a ROM that doesn't contain Google spyware to begin with. The OS is open-source in essence and I still think you can achieve good privacy if you know what you're doing.

I'm going to get an /e/ phone most likely when I move on. I have nothing to hide but I don't like feeling this lack of trust in my technology.
