But then an Abrahamic religion stuck itself onto Neoplatonism and so goodbye to Antikythera mechanisms, etc. and hello to dogmatic superstition, obscurantism, and the eventual destruction of all advanced (thus mysterious) mechanisms, which came to be viewed as magical/satanic.

Very interesting this topic came up yesterday, as I was thinking of Heron of Alexandria yesterday. I went to that exact site when I was looking up the polybolos. Man, make one of them and put a motor on it! >:)
