Interestingly enough, cure for scurvy has been known since 1535, but has been ignored for centuries, because of arrogance of the western culture. Because the cure came from the Indians, 'those savages'. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/scurvy-short-story-ghastly-good-end-i-promise-anu-lall
Through our history, there have been countless similar stories. Not widely known fact today, but when Wright brothers made their first flight, no newspaper of the time would report of it for several years, because they all believed it was fake. The ONLY mention of their flight for the first few years in media, was in a beekeeping magazine, because the editor of the magazine was friend with Wright brothers. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/wright/reporter.html
