The most protected identities are on the left, not the right. Always have been. The right protects anyone with money, the left protects anyone with "character". Nothing turns a person left quicker than new money or rich parents. This is the image problem the left cannot shake... too many rich bolshies and their violent orbiters survive off fake-right, neoliberal money. This is not a centrist position as much a 'two sides of the same coin' issue.
