Yeah, the hated him so much they cheered for him as he drove through the streets. They had free education to university level, free utilities, and 50k gift when they got married to buy a house and raise a family. Compared to many Arab countries, it was also fairly safe, then the US bombed the country and terrorist attacks spiralled out of control.
