One party is not backing trannies.

but they both support the war machine...

Nah, it's unethical and immoral to vote for either.

Let's look at the current proxy war, is it not better to have Ukranians be human speed bumps, getting their men slaughtered by Russians, if it weakens the Sino-Russo coalition and averts global war, than to sit back, do nothing, and feel comfortable about our ethics and morality until it bites us in the ass?

averts global war

That's a huge 'if'. It's more like a CYA excuse to hide the real goal of billionaires making more billions stealing Ukraines assets and more billions by selling weapons.

Sure, there's a few 'upsides' to supplying money and arms to Ukraine, and I'm sure politicians enriching themselves is part of it, but I don't think they'd destroy a country just for that. Like Afghanistan and Iraq, there were a number of goals, most unstated, from those actions. The public just gets the PR bullshit like we're fighting against terrorism, WMDs, or for 'freedom.'

But almost certainly one of our goals is to weaken the Sino-Russo coalition. Janet Yellen recently had a press conference discussing what the US would do if China dumped all $850bn of US debt they held, which would be an act of economic warfare (my words, not hers). That's a concern. And there's the Taiwan situation. 90% of all semiconductors are made in Taiwan. We can't let China have it. Everything runs on those chips including our war machine. China would have the keys to the kingdom otherwise. But they're pushing it, that's pretty aggressive no matter our stated One China policy. They know it too and they're saber rattling anyways. In fact, there's been talk of just bombing Taiwan's factories. Makes sense, take away the thing we would fight over and there's no reason to fight. We're rebuilding our own capacity but China needs to give us time and then we won't give a damn about Taiwan.

And then there's BRICS That's going to be the WW3 equivalent of the Axis powers. And it represents China extending its sphere of influence. They want to rule the world. They aren't even subtle about it. And the US doesn't do a great job as a world leader but I don't think China is going to be an improvement.

And there's China's military buildup. Their spending is still far less than ours but they have more spending parity, they get more bang for their buck that we do. We're even arming Japan because of it, a country that nominally isn't supposed to have an offensive military as per ww2 agreements.

The possibility of a new world war is definitely upon us, it's pretty inconceivable to me that preventing that wouldn't be a goal here. Russia is by far China's strongest ally militarily. Weaken them, weaken China's ability to wage a global war.

that's what disaster capitalism is

They want to rule the world.

China isn't going around the globe instigating coups, military conflicts and NATO-like imperialism. That's the US.

[–]MuskyIndependent[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

China has its own brand of imperialism with its Belt & Road initiative, wolf warrior diplomacy, espionage, and expansionism. It's not a case of the US being dethroned and everyone living in peace and harmony. It's China determining the new world order and I don't see that being better. Given China's history it's likely going to be even worse, heavily censored, and bloodier. Hell, I wouldn't even want to be a Chinese citizen let alone one in a vassal state to China.

Oh, and the icing on the cake, China is short on women to the tune of 34 million. The US isn't big on war brides or comfort women, although China isn't fond of mixed breeds from what I understand, it's hard to imagine so many men being happy being incels their whole lives.

Speaking of the espionage, at least one of those Chinese balloons we shot down was floating over Montana iirc, a place that pretty much only holds one important strategic concern: our nuclear silos. That doesn't bode well either.

I don't see that being better.

Sorry, but the only point of fighting China or any other war is to keep the western oligarchy/billionaires money/in power.

Russia is the boogeyman. China is the boogeyman. In reality, our own government harms us more than they do.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why can’t all of them be the boogeys? Give either of them global control and your lives are wasted.

[–]MuskyIndependent[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country. They're not really a threat on their own. Their tech is ass backwards. I wouldn't even bet on most of their nuclear arsenal still working anymore. But paired with China, that could be a problem.

Our own government harms us more because the Chinese don't have the opportunity to boss us around. Yet. And our oligarchs don't need wars to stay in power. Although I agree they certainly enrich themselves off these wars, and I'm not defending it, but that's not always against the best interests of the US population either.

In Afghanistan we took their oil and we got their poppy fields. Notice the "opioid crisis" geared up when we were planning to withdraw and would lose our access to poppy fields. We had to wean Americans off opiates, again. I think it's the fourth time in our nation's history. It happened after the civil war, after WW1, WW2, and towards the end of the Afghani conflict. I'm not sure about Vietnam, I have heard anecdotally that the heroin was so pure it was easy to get off of, which seems counter-intuitive but I've heard it enough times to think there might be something to that.

I don't know if you know this, but the safer opiates are all naturally derived or only semi-synthetic. The molecules are too complex to synthesize. Sure, we can make fentanyl till the cows come home, but that stuff is easy to overdose on and it causes heart attacks.

When we were weaning people off, we had cancer patients suffering and people dying in pain. Major surgeries are still being done with nothing more than Tylenol for post Op care now. That's barbaric for a drug class that only a small percentage of people ever become addicted to.

But there's only so much raw materials out there for making the good stuff and it sure as shit ain't going to us peasants.

I've seen how China treats its own citizens and it's far worse than the US. I can only imagine how they'd abuse the shit out of the US given half the chance.

The US oligarchy can't even manage to run the US effectively. They will destroy their empire, and the American people, by trying to maintain a unipolar hegemony.

Jesus, Edward, give chat-GPT a rest. It comes off sounding like a retarded redditor.

You realize that it's choreographed right?

The right pushed laws to restrict privacy and personal rights in the name of "protecting the children against these evil trannies".

They're in it together. Good cop, bad cop to manipulate both sides.
