All this would be solved if schools concerned themselves only with educating children vs. indoctrinating them. Teach them facts and skills and let their parents worry about morality, religion, sexuality, etc. If this were the case, these books would never be in school libraries because they have zero academic value when compared to the classics. And the point of teaching literature should never be about these topics, it should be about learning to use language to communicate and to add context to historical facts, imo. I mean, there certainly wasn't a ton of explicit heterosexual material in these libraries. No guides on families with a mother and a father. Definitely nothing detailing how to have sex. Why would we allow it for any other orientation? Again, none of this garbage has any academic value. It's purely to push an agenda.

I agree, but here's the problem: there is no evidence of students being indoctrinated. Claims about the problems are 100% from a handful of parents per school, many of them highly coordinated to be at the school boards, as we've seen. They're literally a tiny percentage of those at the schools, hijacking normal school busines with their hatred and insanity. Teachers continue to teach state-approved curricula. Library books continue to address issues that concern students. Students are not required to read them, nor is it likely that students will chop off their penises after reading such books. All of that personal stuff is for the family to address, not the schools, as you might agree. There is no evidence that books, teachers or schools are dangerous for kids. None. If we let these few insane, GOP funded assholes fuck with school boards, the problems will continue. My problem with liberals is that they won't respond to this handful of crazy parents. Those parents deserve a very strong resoponse to their lies and claims, but libtards won't bother. And as for the libtards who want kids to be able to transition to another sex before the age of 18, we should let those fuckers know that this is absolutely out of the question.

I'm dubious to your claim about indoctrination. I don't think it's coming from the board, but there are teachers out there who are pushing this agenda that parents should be excluded from the conversation when it comes to certain demographics. That's ludicrous when you think what would happen if a straight male teacher started having private conversations about their sexuality with middle school and high school girls. They would be arrested.

Secondly, who is letting these books into the libraries? What could possibly be the reason to have books discussing gender identity and sexuality into a library in the first place? An agenda, that's what. And look at these books. They're not novels that depict gay characters, but otherwise tell good stories, they're propaganda. They're all about normalizing what is, statistically, a very small population of the country.

I stand my suggestion that we rid the schools of any material that doesn't have direct academic value. There is no academic value in books that depict explicit sexuality just for the sake of it.

Thanks, but it's a manufactured problem, part of a very old authoritarian strategy to trick people into supporting authoritarians. Limiting access to information is an authoritarian strategy across the world. And regarding gratuitous sexual content, I doubt most of these books have that:

I would agree if the book were literature and just happened to have some questionable content, but the examples I'm seeing are anything but. They're literally just authors talking graphically about sex. There's no need for these books in school libraries and I don't think the school should be making those unilateral decisions without including parents. Surely there's a better way?

Then again, if kids want to read this sort of thing, they have the internet and try as we may, there's really no way to keep them from looking at explicit material outside of banning them from it. Even then, someone will find a way.
