I think merit should always outweigh looks, but there are limits. Case in point, would you trust this person to run anything? My first thought would be mental illness. That may be prejudiced, but I'm positive there are better candidates. Nothing ive heard about this person suggests that their merits outweigh their ability to assimilate into the team easily. And even if they did, I'd likely choose someone who fit in better.

Also, isn't hiring someone like this just political exploitation? That's why they were hired, not because they're good at their job.

I think we need to make a clear distinction in the difference between what is choice and what is not. How someone dresses is their choice, like if someone is just ugly or deformed or whatever, they can't help that, but if someone chooses to dress like a crazy person, well, that's on them.

Religious garb or what not, you can make some exceptions for, but generally speaking if you normally dress like a weird anti-social person, you might just be a weird anti-social person.

If this guy just did his fetish stuff on the weekends and kept it out of the public eye I'd be arguing against people that want to pry there, but he's very public about it so all criticism is fair. I think it's an exhibituonist tendency and it's little wonder the guy is doing other crimes on top of that. Like, is there any explanation for this besides the fact he stole the women's clothing to satisfy a fetish? And frankly, is there any reason to believe that, if the guy is willing to steal clothing from a public area with a Fuck load of cameras, that the guy will "respect" women's boundaries when there are no cameras?

Agreed! I'm fairly Libertarian on the subject. You do you. And I have no innate prejudice against this person dressing however they want or identifying as whatever they want, however it works both ways. If you walk into a job interview like that, I don't think you can just impose on everyone to just except that and not have it impact the interview. Right off the bat, I'd think this person can't even come to the interview without this baggage they have. How are they going to put that aside to do the job day in and day out if they can't even manage a short interview without that part of their life seeping in? Especially in a position like they're in. It smacks of DEI policy over merit or ability. This administration just wanted to show how woke they are over what's best for the people they represent.
