Because what he said was nonsense that has no basis in reality.
"We should give up trying to prevent COVID-19 and minimize deaths and transmissions because we can't 100% eliminate it" is a bullshit argument.

you can save more lives through treatment then vaccination?
You can't if hospitals are overwhelmed with cases.
Also again you really haven't established that what he says has no basis in reality
Masks and vaccines are both effective in reducing the number of COVID cases, and vaccination greatly reduces the mortality rate of breakthrough cases.
The "doctor" is implying that vaccination and masks have no effect, which is objectively false based on observations of data.
