I was about to write an essay on lumber price, but the video is spot on so there's no need for it. The only thing it didn't mention was Blackrock buying houses like crazy (outbidding everyone) for renting purposes.

Good, old-fashioned price gouging. Like the truck driver in this video said; the big box stores started stock-piling lumber before prices started going up. They saw the trend in demand and took measures to make deals with the mills to be sure they were protected in case there was a shortage. Now, they're taking advantage by making it seem like there's a shortage.

"Why is no one talking about this?"

I've seen videos and threads about this several weeks (months?) ago, and put a Patrick Boyle video mentioning it on my watch later list today. It starts at 1:12 but its worth watching the whole video.
