The kid executes a perfect gun grab once he crawls to within 'can't miss' range, but he was faking them out. He didn't really still have a gun.

The guns they had been exhibiting out the hotel room window - drawing police to a potentially active shooter scene - were still back in the room.

What he was probably doing was retardedly grabbing where his gun would be to pull up his pants. Unfortunate move on his part, because it looked like exactly how the gun comes out in all those police body-cam videos. You wouldn't think they'd just reach for and grab their weapon while the cops are looking right at them, but they do.

Kid could have walked away from that with a felony stupidity charge.

Also, I think this guy was drunk, which never helps in decision making.

I still think some kind of 'immobilizing' alternative to shooting people should be possible, although there are a lot of people we obviously want to shoot.

Maybe a kind of sticky net? Or even a tranquilizer dart, where they need to be subdued, but not necessarily killed. Although cops wouldn't necessarily carry extra weapons or equipment as a matter of course. Plus, is this a problem we really want to solve.

I think anything used to subdue a person has the potential to be fatal in certain circumstances, but yeah, ideally something like a taser or pepper spray or an immobility device would be better than firearms.
